Coban Pelangi, Malang - Rainbow In Your Hand

To be honest before i went there, i never heard this name. This waterfall might not be the most famous waterfall in Malang, but worth a shot. I'll tell you why :)

I went to Coban Pelangi (Rainbow Waterfall), on 1st Sept 2014 with my teammate at PDAKI FEB UA. Well, just FYI, the possible translation for PDAKI maybe Data Center and Financial Analysis of Indonesia. Sounds cool? Haha. I join for an internship. Because it was an "office's employee travelling", i didn't pay anything for this trip except train tickets, food and tips. And it wasn't cost that much. How nice!

Coban Pelangi is located in Desa Gubugklakah, Kecamatan Poncokusumo, Kabupaten Malang. This waterfall isn't that far from Bromo. Most people might visit here after Bromo, like i did. Just like other tourism object, first we need to pay entrance admission only for Rp 6000 per person. Then enter the gate, and walk, probably around 1,5 km (?). The path is clear and we just need to follow the way. There are only beautiful green view as far as my eyes go, which is really great.

But the thing is, you walk downhill to meet the waterfall, and that's a bit steep. Me and friends be like:

Oh My God, just how we gonna walk this incline later??? *and cry*

Cause we actually don't exercise that often, and we just climbed Bromo few hours ago. This challenge is actually killing us.

But nope! Keep going.

Btw, don't worry if you need toilets during your walk, because there are 2 spots where toilets are available. In each spot, also there are sellers if you want to buy drinks or snacks, even instant noodle. Also a spot for Mushola if you probably a Moeslem.

After you passed those 2 toilet spots, soon you will find a bamboo bridge to cross over the river. Don't hesitate to take photos, this bridge is somehow a nice photo spot! :)

After the bamboo bridge, walk a little bit more. Just a little bit more.

You've arrived at Coban Pelangi!!!

Just like another waterfall, the water is cold but super fresh. It's okay if you decided to swim, but way too cold for me. I put only feet into water, for photo purpose only. Hahaha.

Special thing about this waterfall is, you can see many rainbow. Small to big rainbow. If you visit at the right weather and time (they said the best time is in the morning), you'll see a big rainbow near the cliff around waterfall. I wonder how beautiful it can be. But even if you don't get to see a big rainbow, as long a quite strong sunshine is present, you still have a small, but many rainbows. I see rainbows everywhere at some spots with a nice sunshine. They are small and at your hand reach. So wonderful :)

The small rainbow, it works like... when you spray water to plants in a garden, and there's sunshine so somehow you get to see rainbow on the water you spray. I can't explain it with a right science -_- but it works like that.

I suggest to stay a bit longer at the waterfall, or near the bamboo bridge, to make your walk worth. Hehe. Because your way back will probably be tiring if you don't usually walk.

Well, so don't hesitate if you have plan to visit Coban Pelangi. Go visit ! :)

Nggak terasa kira-kira 10 bulan sejak dari Kamboja ><

Seorang bule gila di russian market pernah tanya, setelah dari kamboja bakal travelling kemana lagi. Jawab saya, "Back to Indonesia", dan dijawabnya:

"Don't lie! Once you travel, you'll always want more!"

Waktu itu, karena dia bener-bener gila (ciyus ini...), jadi siapa peduli dia mau ngomong apa? Bawaannya pengen dia cepet-cepet pergi aja dari sana. Hih.

Yang jelas, saat ini kayaknya kata-kata si bule gila baru terasa. Tiba-tiba sejak bulan-bulan kemarin saya pengen banget, banget, banget, bangetttttt travelling lagi. Ini mungkin juga bagian dari sindrom "ingin mencoba hal baru" yang saya derita belakangan ini. Pokoknya bawaannya pengen ke tempat baru, nyoba hal baru, dan caranya adalah dengan travelling. Sayang banget meskipun sampe geregetan pengen liburan, semuanya nggak bisa terwujud dalam waktu dekat T_T Akibat tidak adanya cukup libur panjang, yang itupun masih di jejel sama KKN. Sedih....

Kalo dibilang ada waktu saat weekend, tapi rasanya terlalu buru-buru. Kalo weekend biasanya dipake untuk ngerjain tugas untuk dikumpul pada weekdays. Begitu seterusnya. Jadi weekend mana yang mau dipake travelling? Bukan tipe saya banget kalo pas datengin tempat wisata yang asik-asik tapi pikiran masih nempel di tugas ini tugas itu yang belum digarap. Dan meskipun saya pinginnya travelling deket-deket ini, tapi waktu paling deket untuk cuss paling juga Juli 2014 T_T.

Yah, sebenernya ada plus nya juga sih. Jadi bisa nabung lebih lama. Makin banyak tabungan sepertinya bisa jadi pergi ke tempat yang lebih jauh dan lebih seru :D Satu lagi, jadi bisa lebih terencana. Meskipun kadang hal yang nggak direncanakan bisa jadi banyak surprise yang seru, tapi tanpa rencana sama sekali itu... hmmm... agak kurang 'saya' banget.

Saya tahu kalo hal terencana itu nggak selalu berjalan sesuai rencana. Tapi bukan berarti segalanya nggak perlu rencana. Juga, bukan berarti segalanya harus direncanakan sih.

Habis terakhir ke Bangkok itu kan no idea banget. Browsing tempat jalan-jalan bagusnya kemana, itu baru pada saat disana. Cari hotel nggak dapet, akhirnya minta tolong pak tuk tuk. Ya sukur-sukur hotelnya murah, bagus, dan cukup strategis. Deket stasiun kereta, ada bus jalur MBK yang lewat depan hotel, hotelnya pun gak mahal amat. 

Anyway, KKN nanti pun termasuk tempat baru buat saya. Selama sebulan bakal tinggal di lingkungan baru, hmmm.... excited :D I will consider this as travelling, though maybe i won't have anywhere to go there -_- But still, it's a new place, right?
